Beautiful 1948 Chevrolet Woody Station Wagon. Same owner 45 years, only one previous owner. Street rodded in the early 1970’s. Engine 1969 396 cubic inch V-8 originally 325 horsepower from a Caprice. Rebuilt and bored to 403 cubic inch displacement in 2015. Roller cam and rockers, new pistons, heads cleaned and opened up, stainless valves so the uses 87 octane gasoline. All new parts used in assembly. Edelbrock carburetor, polished and Jet hot coated aluminum intake (GM), chrome dress up parts, 400 Turbo-Hydramatic three speed automatic transmission, Oldsmobile rear axle with 2.93:1 gears. Rear drum brakes 12” diameter by 3” wide shoes. New Vintage Air under dash, new vents center and side. R-134 Freon, new aluminum radiator, fan and shroud. Fat Mat front crossmember and suspension specially built for this car. It is a heavy car with a big block and had larger tube A Arms, bigger brakes and rotors. The bushings were all updated to Polyurethane in 2017 including sway bars and four new gas shocks, work done at Fat Man Engineering. The paint was redone in 2016. The wood was refinished, and new mahogany panels replaced in 2017 by Dave Martin in Wisconsin. The seats, visors, seat backs and surrounds are all English leather done by Perry Nichols, Perry’s Top & Trim. The gauges are VDO all in good working order. The clocks works, the CD player is Kenwood. The steering column is Corvette tilt and telescopic. The car was just serviced with new oil, filter, anti-freeze, rear end oil, brakes checked etc. at Happy Days Hot Rods in Denver North Carolina. The car runs and drives good. Everything works well, It gets lots of Top Ten awards including Goodguys, Street Rodder Magazine and NSRA Picks. Driven in the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour a couple years ago, traveling through seven cities in seven days, 2,180 miles. Continuously restored the paint and body and improved the condition and performance.
